MADISON, Wis. – For the second straight month, home sales dropped as Wisconsin recorded its coldest winter in decades according to an analysis of February housing market activity released by the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA).

With 11 months of data reported, 2012 will clearly go down as a record year for favorable housing affordability conditions, and a great year for buyers who could get a mortgage, according to the National Association of REALTORS®.

One year ago today, on Nov. 21, 2012, the average interest rate for a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage hit 3.31 percent, the lowest rate on record–ever. This morning, the average rate is 4.22 percent, according to Freddie Mac’s Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
